1340, September 19, Wednesday.

*Through this charter, Pedro de Villlanueva takes possession of the site of Agna and its inhabitants take an oath of fealty to them as their new lords. The context is an exchange of lordship between the Order of Santiago, which received the towns of Çenet and Sagra, and Pedro de Villanueva, who received the town of Agna. Through this charter, Muslims living in Agna acknowledge and promise to fulfil their obligations, monetary and otherwise, to their new lord. As such, this constitutes an example of the process through which Muslims entered relations of coercion and dependence with military orders in the Middle Ages. *
