Lodovico Marini (a relative of Francesco’s business partner Manno) searches a wet nurse for his new born baby. Margherita tries to mediate for an agreement between Lodovico and the wife of Ceccarello (one of Francesco’s workers). Margherita asks Schiavo (= Piero di Lenzo, worker of the Datini household) to conduct the negotiations. The negotiations are delayed as the father of the woman needs to agree and cannot be found. When the woman finally asks about the conditions of employment, Lodovico has already found a wet nurse in Florence and Margherita’s mediating services are no longer needed.
